Voila! Helping a fellow writer in need, twenty of us got together to create an illustrated collection of short stories and novellas. Each story features a seemingly smaller and weaker guy who uses wit, grit, and guile to overcome a superior opponent or beat very bad odds. The genres include contemporary, sci-fi and fantasy. Two stories have some sexually explicit material, but most are not romantic and are aimed at an audience wider than the customary gay romance community. Oh yeah – Eric is a gay man, and all contributors have written some gay romance, so that’s why all the protagonists are men. Just in case you were wondering.
Eric Arvin is a talented writer who got struck down with a brain tumor last year. The tumor removal didn’t go as planned, and Eric was left paralyzed and on a respirator. He can move his fingers some, feel ground under his feet, and can perceive other sensations, but in order to start rehabilitating, he needs to get off the respirator. Enter a relatively new medical device – a phrenic pacemaker. It gets implanted into the diaphragm and makes it do its job, thus allowing Eric to – BREATHE.
Since medical insurance doesn’t cover everything, Eric is saving up for one of these gizmos, and we’re here to help him. The Kickass Anthology is a product of donated stories and illustrations, donated publishing and publicity services, and a lot of love. You can make a difference in the life of a whole family by helping heal this man, and all you have to do is buy a book. The print version is “large print” so it can be read in comfort by all. If you buy a trade paperback, you can add the e-book for a fraction of the price.

My work here is mostly done. The rest is up to you, the readers. It’s also up to Eric, but I have every confidence in his grit and wit level. Eric is, you know… kickass.
